2006 passat engine noise

Hello all,

I am goign crazy with the engine nnoise from my passat it sounds like its comign from the muffler and everyone thinks its a standard probelm of the 2.0 FSI model. anyone else have the same prolem and know of a soultion? I am willing ot buy a brand new muffler if it will fix it.

Does the noise happen all the time, even at idle, or is it only at highway speeds?
