89 Jetta GL w/faulty seat belt switch

I just got the car back from the shop where they bought my soul for diagnostics, tow, and repair of a fault seat belt switch. I'm an hour away from the shop now and the car won't start again. Same thing happens. Put the key in and the fuel pump turns on, but no power getting to the starter. Is there a way for me to bypass this mechanism temporarily so I can get it back to that shop?

and that is on the starter of a manual transmission. automatic will be a large wire at a connector near the heater hose. same principal of supplying power to the wire going to the smaller starter wire. It could be the seat belt starter interlock system or possibly heat soak issues. later, dave
