A/C Pressure level on '89 Golf

What would the normal operating A/C pressure be on an '89 golf. Is it any different from the recommended pressure found on the dials of the 'do it yourself' R-134a recharge pressure gauges? I recently 'recharged' my R-134a to the instruction's spec but it doesnt blow anywhere near cold yet? Do VWs run a different 'low side' pressure than other makes? Should I add more? Thanks in advance.

The pressure depends very much on temperature. The data given in Bentley apply to R12 only, R134a operate at different pressures.

The high side pressure at 15°C should be between 9 and 11 bar. At 30°C it should be between 16 and 18.5 bar. The change with temperature is fairly linear between those temps.

Low side pressure should be between 1.2 and 1.8 bar at 15°C and between

2 and 2.75 bar at 30°C. Again, fairly linear between those temps.

Above numbers are read from the graph >
