My rear passenger side strut housing on my 1988 Scirocco 16v looks like a mess. There is a huge gaping crack extending about 3 inches from the top of the rear strut housing and rust near the top. I have no idea how this happened and recently discovered it (all this was hidden behind the factory trim). The rest of the car is in great shape for its age with only minor surface rust. Any experiences out there with similar damage. Is this fixable or is my strut going to come flying into my compartment one of these days...Yikes. Thanks a lot for any replies tips.
