Alternator change: 01 Jetta 4 cyl

Getting ready to change the alternator, just thought i would make contact to see if anyone could answer a few of my q's. Thanks:

anyone have any info on the specs (number of bolts, size of sockets needed, etc)

should i run into any problems with the 4 cyl. I read another post, that discussed " little room to remove the alternator in a jetta 6 cyl". The member then had to jack up the engine to fully remove the alternator, would i run into this prob with the

4cyl?

which bolt loosens the belt? the one with the torx bolt in the center of the alternator? if so? what size torx do i need?

any and all help would greatly be appreciated, talk soon,

Jeremy, Arcata CA.

Get a Haynes or a Bentley manual. The Haynes would be good enough for the alternator swap. You will also need a large adjustable to be able to remove the serpentine belt by grabbing the pulley hardware with the adjustable. It's in the Haynes manual.

No the 4cyl is easier than the 6cyl.

No. See above.

Hayne for the quick fix. If you want to continue to DIY, get the Bentley manual used on Ebay later.
