## 1979 kooperiert MAN mit dem Volkswagen-Konzern. Ziel ist eine ## gemeinsame Baureihe von Fahrzeugen von 6 - 9 Tonnen, der so ## genannten G-Reihe. Als Fahrerhaus kommt von Volkswagen die ## vergrößerte Kabine des 1975 eingeführten Transporters VW LT zum ## Einsatz. MAN steuert zum Fahrzeug Motoren, Rahmen, Vorderachse und ## Bremsen bei. Bis 1982 wird die Produktion der Fahrzeuge aufgeteilt. ## Ab 1982 werden sie nur noch von MAN im ehemaligen Büssing-Werk in ## Salzgitter produziert.

## 1993: Im Oktober wird die alte G-Reihe durch den L 2000 abgelöst. Sie ## deckt den Bereich von 6 bis 11 Tonnen Gesamtgewicht ab. Die Kabine ## stammt von Steyr. MAN hat 1989 die Mehrheitsanteile der ## österreichischen Firma Steyr übernommen. Die L 2000 Baureihe wird von ## MAN alleine gebaut, die Kooperation mit VW besteht nicht mehr. Es ## werden Vierzylinder-Motoren von 75 - 155 PS angeboten.
