Cabin Air Filter for VW Golf III TDI 90HP GL 1995

I just bought a spare cabin air filter for my VW Golf III 90HP GL '95. The old one was very dirty and clogged up so I need a new one. The previous filter's brand was 'Valeo' but the new one is 'MECAFILTER'

If you read that installation literature, the first step for installing the new filter is attaching a plastic frame to the new cabin air filter, but my previous filter is of single construction; the plastic frame and the filter make a single non-detachable unit. My question is, is that plastic frame for the cabin filter an original VW part? Any ideas on how to attach this new filter without the plastic frame other than using some sort of adhesive tape?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

I cannot see any references to a plastic frame there. All I know is that my previous 'Valeo' filter came with that plastic frame incorporated. This plastic frame has a series of notches so the filter stays in place.

Acc. to ETKA you should fit a plastic frame part # 1J0 819 648 when replacing the filter. I think that the 'valeo' type is mounted by the factory and that the replacement filter is just only the filter. Trip to the dealer.....
