I'll guess it's "IN"spect "O2" sensor?

This morning i tought the same thing and i started to fear i have a damaged oxygen sensor... luckily it's Inspection #2 (as explained on the same thread of uk.rec.cars.vw.watercooled) ... i have to make some routine checks as i am approaching 60.000 kms.

It seems the odometer can say OEL (oil service), IN 01 (Inspection 1) and IN

02 (Inspection 2).

OEL is basically just an oil change, IN 01 is the annual service, and IN 02 is the every-two-years major service.

I don't have the service schedule book so i am searching for more information about the things to check during the inspection 1 and the inspection 2. Can anyone help me?

No, it's the bi-annual service reminder. Take it in for a service...

I have had the IN 02 flashing at me for about six years now because the stupid dealer doesn't know how to disengage it. When I asked them to re-set it, they responded with 'it doesn't matter'.

The stupid dealer also sells Audis'. I am seriously looking at an A4

1.8 T Quattro but I still have to deal with the idiots in the service dept. Makes me wary.

TO RESET THE INDIVIDUAL INDICATOR COUNTERS:

  1. Turn on ignition (do not start the car)
  2. Press the trip-reset button on the odometer (the trip value will not be reset to zero but will reappear when the procedure is completed)
  3. Turn off the ignition and then release the trip-reset button.

In the LCD display, you will see the display "OEL".

Using the button to set the MINUTES (lower one) of the digital clock, you will reset the OEL interval counter. Press it, hold, release. Five (5) horizontal lines will appear in the LCD display.

Even our local "all makes" cheapo car servicing centre knows how to do this. Kinda worrying for a VW dealer not to know (or, more likely, care).

The local dealer has a monopoly round these parts. Splains the attitude problem.
