Good VW mechanic in Silicon Valley area?

Can anyone recommend a good VW mechanic in the Silicon Valley area? I've been taking my 98 Passat to the dealer and it's a rip-off. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have been going to New Dimensions for my 95 Passat repair and service since 1997. They have consistently been outstanding. Talk to Nick in service.

Randy at Little Village Automotive has done a great job on my A1s:

A little different 'take'... get a detailed VW tech manual and do the work yourself - provided you have time. As I get a bit older, I realize ALL THINGS are meant to be repaired, and the designers make it as easy as possible to do. There is nothing special about it, it's knowing how to go about the repair.

I recently replaced my 2 radiator fans in my 2001 VR6 - I read it was going to involve taking the FRONT OF THE CAR OFF THE CHASSIS... scary for sure - for me - but I took my time (5 hours) the 1st time, and all worked out great. It was very easy. Got it back together and realized I left out 1 part.. took me 15 minutes the 2nd time.. I also went into a BMW head the same way.. easy.. but took time the 1st time.. designers make things easy to fix..

just another thought.

Can't say how good they are with VWs, but Dana Meyers in Berkeley was absolutely fantastic with my Toyota. (Dana Meyers is a foreign specialist with emphasis on VWs, I believe.) More than once they took a look, figured out what was wrong, and gave me a choice between (1) the long-term, more expensive, best option, and (2) the cheaper, get-by-for-now option, with a full explanation of the consequences of each.

HTH...
