Keys/Security question

I've lost one of my keys, I'm paranoid so would like to make sure the lost key can't be used to steal my car. I think I have three options:

  1. Don't worry about it
  2. Get a new key and get VW to authorise only the keys I have. (allows 'break' in using the lost key?)
  3. Get the whole car re-keyed to prevent 'break' in using the lost key.

It's a 2002 UK V6 4Motion, (standard remote locking/immob/alarm with internal alarm sensors)

I'm guessing that (3) will be really expensive, is it possible to kill the lost key for both alarm and immob? or will using the key in the lock/ignition override the alarm? Any comments? Any idea of cost? (I will call VW, but would like some independent info first)

Thanks, Simon.

Get yourself a new key and have them program the keys. That way the old key will not start the car but they still can get into the car. The hard part is for them to find your car, unlikely.
