Online TSB?

Does anyone have a link to online technical service bulletins?

I've never had a car that needed the rear brakes replaced before the front brakes needed to be relaced. Then again, I've never owned a car with four wheel disks.

I took a guess. Okay NB driver. That is because you bought a German engineered vehicle that is too light in the ass end so the ABS kicks in the rears way more often than usual. Some folks on this newsgroup take out the ABS fuse but I wouldn't count on that.

I was surprised as hell when the rears on my 00 Passat went well before the fronts, but I've just been informed that my 03 Silverado (2wd) will also be needing new rear brakes soon, well before the fronts are gone.

The ABS and EGS lights come on at random times. They stay on for as long as a day. Later, on startup, the EGS light will go off, followed by the ABS light during that drive.

The dealership didn't seem concerned as the lights weren't on when we were there last.

We've come to ignore them (other than to note the systems may not be working).

P.S. They did come on once while pulling into a car wash (the under carriage was being sprayed).

I think this is wierd but also think that the OEMs are experimenting with traction control via ABS etc and other stuff to use the rear brakes more often during dry conditions. That equals wearing out the rear brakes more often. It could be a plot to sell more rear brake pads since traditionally the pads used to take forever to wear down. The rear brake shoes on my YJ Jeep lasted 189000 miles. The original owner said he never had the rears replaced. I replaced them and they fell apart in my hands from all the heat.
