RainX washer fluid = Busted washer fluid sensor???

When I first picked up my MK4 Golf a year ago, the original owner had god knows what in as washer fluid - but it left residue all over the window and roof of the car (that I STILL can't get off). I quickly emptied it and put in Raix Washer fluid (which I personally like).

After a few refills of the RainX stuff, the washer level sensor would not turn off even though the tank was full. At that time I was taking it in for the 40x service and had that addressed. They told me the tank was all gummed up with some pink/orange fluid (the rainx). So they flushed it all out and everything was good as new.

I just assumed it was the crap in there from before. So I resumed my old rainX ways, and the problem has just started again. Now the sensor turns off sometimes, other times it is on (the tank is full). So I guess it is the rainx causing this gumming problem. Note that the washer just spray normally and do not seem clogged at all.

Has anyone ever seen this / had this problem using the RainX washer fluid? Should I just use real rainx on the windshield and then normal washer fluid? At some point I will try flushing out the tank myself (it is not worth the 80$ for the dealer to do it).

Thanks,

-Pete
