Re Post: Jetta Clutch Help Help

Sorry about the big long line ont the original post I'll try to repost the question. I think its browers problems

Hi Im at wits end .I own a 1990 Jetta GL 1.8 SOHC PF AUG type 5 speed tranaxle. I just installed a clutch pressure plate and release bearing in my car and I noted when I connected the cabel to the operater lever that it was to easy to do.When I adjusted the cable I had to take it almost all the way out to almost tighten the cable (note: the cable is a self adjuster type) When i pressed the clutch peldal down it droped right ot the floor .So I figured I did something wrong I ripped it all apart and redid it. I turned out just like the first time.So I bought another clutch set its the spitting image of the origanl . I installed the new one to the same effets as the first. I have had this apart about 10 time now and i still have no pedal. The operater lifts up about 1 inch before the release lever hits the release bearing. The release lever sit up about half a inch above the release bearing when the operater lever is resting on its stop. The cable has alot of slack even when adjusted all the way out. I reinstalled the old parts and its the same as the new. on instillation i bolted the pressure plate to the crank 50 lb torque .I used the corect align ment tool when installing the clutch I made sure the flywheel was sitting right on the dial pins. I installed the release plate and spring .I tried 3 different release bearing in it .I examed the release lever for cracks or missing teeth it looks fine I also examed the teeth on the operater lever it seems fine. It almost seems that the push rod is too short. Any help with this will be greatly APP Im at wits end !!!
