rear shocks on Golf A3,, gone again

I had to havce the factory shocks replaced after 220 000km. I'm at 300 000km
and they are gone again. I'm being told that shocks (especiallyh oil filled)
only last 70k or so.  Is this true?  Are there any that will last longer,
gas filled?

If you bought the shocks from VW, they have a lifetime warranty.

My original shocks on my A2 lasted some 300,000+ km, and I did drive the car
"enthusiastically".
