What are those holes for (A2 jetta door pillar)

1992 Jetta has three threaded holes in the door pillar near the top - what are they for?

Seeing as you're in canada i'm gonna guess that you have a canadian-spec Jetta and therefore you have the usual 3-point belts and not the passive restraint that we got here in the US but if you did the holes are probably for the reinforcement plate that goes on the door pillar. On cars with passive restraints there's a 2-point shoulder belt that attaches to the door and when the door is closed there's a plate on the door that interlocks with a plate on the door post on the car for extra reinforcement of the door frame (since the belt in a crash would be pulling on the door frame near the window).

Thanks, that makes complete sense.
