4.3 L engine - high mileage

Eight years ago I purchased my used 1995 Chev Blazer, it has 75,000 kmand just off a two year lease. It now has 526,000 km and has given notrouble what so ever. I change the oil and filter every 5,000 km, thisgives the life to any engine and I mean it. It runs smooth, if youwatch what type of gas you put in it. At 500,000 km I treated it to anew set of spark plugs and wires. The old plugs were worn a bit but nosign of engine problems were indicated on the plugs. I have read thatsome think the 4.3 L engine is the worst thing ever invented. I guessI have the "one" that will give good performance for a long time tocome yet, I hope. Perhaps those who do not have very good luck withtheir vehicles are the ones who abuse them.

If you do decide to pull your jeep, just remember not to put it in OD. Just keep it in 3rd gear (1:1) Yes, my 4.3 would run like that also but the best I could ever get out of it was 13 MPG city. And that is after the air bleeds were retuned.

of course only tow in "D" not "OD".

What is an "air bleed"???

I bought a 1996 1500 WT 4.3 auto get between 15 and 16 mpg city I've had it about a year it now has 180,000 miles no smoke no oil consumption and has plenty of power. still original engine and tranny. So I have nothing but good things to say about this engine.
