Transfer case "click"

91 Z71 has a clicking noise coming from the transfer case on acceleration and deceleration, it goes with the rotation of the drive shaft ( faster you go faster it gets , slower you go slower it gets) not a U joint but definitely internal. Doesn't seem to effect drivability but it is annoying and leaves you wondering if it's gonna self destruct. Any thought on this guy's?

I had a 99 Z71 that did the same thing, turned out the xfer case was low on fluid. took it in, had it topped off and it stopped.
