That school is Cornerstone Schools in Detroit. Despite the fact that more than half of its children are at or below the poverty line, Cornerstone has provided its children in Detroit with an excellent education for over 21 years. Cornerstone was featured on CNN, "As One School That Gets It Right" and is a known as model in urban education. A Christ-centered independent school, Cornerstone is exempt from receiving state and federal funding and must rely on the generosity of others to support its mission.
