WHY? - C900 use of prewarmer thermo in rubber boot

WTF? w/ the thermostat placed in the the rubber boot of the classic

900? Lead to torn boot and massive air leaks, running lean, etc.

Anyone know if there are replacement air intake boots without the hole for the cable operating thermostat?
