Best RPM for most efficient fuel consumption.

I own a 2003 5 speed manual outback. I usually run my tacho at 3200 to3500 RPM. Is this in fact the most efficient rpm for the engine? Iknow that typically once you go over 110 kph fuel efficiency drops butit depends on what rpm the engine in running at the point where mosthorsepower is put out without consuming too much fuel.Any thoughts on this?Paul

less air to burn at alt, so less fuel consumption for the same f to air ratio? Hmmm...
