  1. P0302 — Ignition (service now). Cylinder 2 is misfiring. The computer has identified one specific cylinder, which narrows the search considerably.

Checks to do first, in order

  1. If the warning light is flashing rather than steady, stop driving and have the vehicle recovered.
  2. Swap the coil or plug from cylinder 2 with a neighbouring cylinder, clear the code, and see whether the misfire follows the part.
  3. Check the injector for that cylinder if ignition components are ruled out.
  4. Have a compression or leak-down test done if the misfire stays with the cylinder.
