What this means
⚠ Book a service. The codes you entered describe faults that get worse, or more expensive, if left.
What to doBook a workshop inspection. Normal driving is usual with these faults, but they should not be left indefinitely.

  1. P0401 — Emissions control (service soon). Not enough exhaust gas is being recirculated. The passages are usually carboned up rather than the valve being electrically faulty.

Checks to do first, in order

  1. Inspect the EGR passages for carbon build-up — this is the usual cause and cleaning often fixes it.
  2. Check that the EGR valve moves freely.
  3. Verify the differential pressure sensor and its hoses where fitted.
