  1. U0428 — Vehicle network (service now). A control module is receiving data it considers invalid from the steering angle sensor module. This is a communication fault between modules rather than a failure of any one part.

Checks to do first, in order

  1. Expect stability control, lane assist, or power steering assistance to be reduced or disabled; drive accordingly.
  2. Check for other network codes across all modules — a single wiring or power fault usually sets several at once.
  3. Have the steering angle sensor calibration checked, which is often required after alignment or suspension work.
  4. Inspect the network wiring and connectors rather than replacing modules.
