Power antenna stuck

Mar 02, 2007 1 Replies

Hey all, After the recent ice storms here in the east, my wife's Camry has developed a balky power antenna, which seems to have given it up entirely at this point.....the motor still runs when the radio is turned on/off, but the antenna no longer moves. Anyone been inside one of these antenna units? Anyone have a parts blowup? I'd like to see if there's a clutch or anything else inside which allow repair rather than replacement....yes, I'm cheap. I don't mind spending time pulling it apart. But if it's borked, with no user serviceable parts inside, I'd rather know now before I tie up a bunch of time. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ed

Assume all are like my '95 --- the antenna shaft has a nylon toothed strip (or belt) that is used to make it go up and down. It is either broken or some of the teeth are stripped. A new shaft with the belt attached is `30. If its broken off - you need to remove the motor to get the broken piece out.
