Starter keeps spinning

1989 S10 Blazer 4x4 4.3L

Started it up after work today and the starter kept spinning and never disengaged. The engine ran, but very rough. I was just about to crawl underneath and hit the starter with something when it quit by itself. Just replace the starter or something else? Oh, got it home and started it a couple of times and it worked fine.

Sounds like the plunger in your starter solenoid is sticking You can either replace it or hope that it doesn't happen again. Sometimes, if you take it apart and clean the plunger and solenoid bore, that will fix it. Best bet is to install a new solenoid and clean the plunger. Rich B
