actually Ford Motor Co. is a large shareholder in both International and
Cummins. Ford Motor Co. would invest the money to supply their own engines if they had no financial ties to International they develop all their other engines. Chevrolet looked at many people to design the engine that would become the Duramax,including John Deere and Caterpillar. Chevrolet looked to Isuzu for the same reason that Ford turns to International, they are a shareholder in Isuzu, and were at one time the largest single shareholder. why else would Chevrolet allow them to market an S-10 Clone here in the U.S. Because they still make money from the sale of these trucks.
