350 SBC drivebelt issues

I'm running a 350, custom application. I have alternator, power steering pump, waterpump and crank pulleys. the problem i found is the power steering pump belt was rubbing the bottom of the water pump pulley under power. it was a 36" belt. I bought a 44" belt to go around the three pulleys, see images.

i tried a 37" belt on the crank to power steering pulley and gained some clearance but i didn't think it would be enough to solve the problem...

my question is:

will this set up throw a belt, cause excessive wear in either belt or work OK?

or use the 37" belt or maybe try a 38"?

Thanks in advance...

Jim

Ian, His pics show a standard set up. Alt in upper right, driven from crank over water pump and the PS on middle left with belt going from crank over WP pulley as well. Used to see the same thing on cars like the Buick park. aves and Olds 88/98s. His original set up was the alt driven off the crank over the WP and the PS mid mounted (doesn't look like the low mounts though, maybe steering box is below it?)

Thanks Steve, I guess he should be fine as long as the crank and water pump pulleys have the same respective sizes for the two grooves.

Now, why can't I get those pictures up on IE?

What do you get when you go there? Just the text with image placeholders? Or nothing?
