Where's Daimler?

I'm sure many similar threads have been posted already, but...

Where's Daimler gone? The new XJ line up does not include a Daimler model (or even a Sovereign, for that matter).

I've heard conflicting rumours; one of a new Daimler limo to rival the Maybach and the new Roller, the other is that Ford have scrapped the Daimler badge.

Anyone heard any news?

Funny you should mention that. I had not noticed that Daimler had disappeared. I see the Daimler Super V8 has been replaced by the XJ Super V8.

However there is no news re Daimler or it's demise on the web, that I could find.

As Ford are mow in control and the Daimler brand did not go to the USA, they may have dumped it. You would think some one would have said some thing??

I had heard rumours about a new Limo, but nothing concrete.

In the latest edition 110 of Jag Mag, the head of the new XJ programme, David Scholes is quoted as saying that the Daimler marque is being rested until an appropriate model is produced. When a long wheelbase version is built, it may be marketed as a Daimler. He also said that Jaguar will not compete in the ultra - expensive Rolls - Royce or Maybach market. huddo

Ah but not so....

Have you noticed that some versions of the current V8 model have the distinctive Daimler fluted grill surround........but are badged as Jaguars.....

.......and has Vanden Plas references.....

Vanden Plas had nothing to do with Daimler other then to build special order bodies, so what's going on then ?
