I didn't take a photo before scraping off the coating, it was definatly burn. The second trace also showed minor discoloration. Didn't go too far into examining the circuit but it looks like after the first trace burned out, the second was picking up the current and not too happy.
Yep. I ran an insulated jumper since there was no way to tack down a wire to the snot they covered the board with.
