crank sensor

engine wont start we think it is the crank sensor now what i want to know can those be tested are they made to be very magnetic?

Yes, a crankshaft position sensor can be tested. With the sensor cold, you should have between 1,600 and 2,700 ohms. You need an oscilloscope to check the output signal. You should also test for an open between the sensor and the ECU by doing a continuity test from the connector to the ECU.

I don't know what you mean by "very magnetic." The sensor is a reluctor - basically is senses the teeth on the front pulley and by the on-off signal frequency, the ECU calculates crankshaft speed.

the crank sensor was bad, and it does pick up things just like a magnet
