What Time Is it, Eccles?

Ford Focus Ghia 1.8 2000W.

The LED clock on my Focus has lost its backlighting, making it impossible to read. I called into my local Ford Dealer to by a replacement bulb, but there isn't one listed. It seems I have to buy a new clock unit.

I assume that the light source (bulb or LED) must be soldered in.

Does anyone know what the light source is and whether it can be replaced?

Also, how do I get the clock out of the centre console? The clock appears to remove from the rear, so I have to release the console first.

TIA

From my Haynes (so no responsibility for errors!):

Disconnect battery earth lead. Remove radio. Remove ashtray. Undo 4 screws from inside radio aperture. Unclip heater control panel from facia. Disconnect the multi-plugs from the rear of the control panel (where required). Undo 2 retaining screws and withdraw clock.

On some models the bulb can be removed by twisting anti-clockwise; on others, take to Ford dealer or automotive electrical specialist for renewal.

Hi Chris - thanks for the info.

Of course, I lied when I wrote "LED clock". I meant LCD clock.

I wouldn't expect my local Ford dealer to possess the skill to solder a wire-ended bulb (if that's what it is) into a pcb. That's a job I would undertake myself.

I still need to identify what bulb I need, so I can have it on hand before I strip the centre console out.

Maplins do one, a WQ13P, which is not dissimilar to the one in the Rover clock or behind the ignition bezel. You could take a chance !
