Jim, Your best bet would be to replace the sender. Its not expensive compared to other Benz replacement parts, and the use of an adjustable wrench will suffice as far as a replacement tool goes. Just remember to remove the shipping pin from the new sender before you install it. Redline additive is the only cleaner recommended by Benz for the 5 cyl diesel. Good luck Jo
