MGF - Mayo on dipstick

My MGF cut out in a puff of steam the other day, I checked water level (empty) and oil which seemed ok, but a little cloudier than normal.

When a head gasket fails I have heard people describe 'mayo' on the dipstick. Can someone be a bit more specific than that (a picture would really help!). Should I see big whitish blobs all over the place or do they just mean that the oil goes cloudy?

...my dad and I were both looking at the dipstick, he thought it looked more or less normal and I thought it definatly looked very cloudy and different from when I usually check it. Thanks
