My flicking tachometer!

My '67B roadster has an eccentric Tacho, when I floor the pedal the needle flicks to 10,000rpm +.

When it was a periodic flick I could live with that, but ignition on and it is now permanently fully deployed. Immediate solution, unhitch the wire from the back. Tacho now dead.

So I examine my LT wiring inside the standard distributor, and sure enough the bottom half of the flexible earthing wire has lost its oil sodden cotton sheath. Sprayed it with lighter fuel to remove oil contamination ( and blew it dry), but this solved nothing! This 1 inch wire flexes everytime the Vac advance is activated, and clearly needs replacing or reinsulating. I suspect that is my main problem. Can you buy them as a replacement part or does anyone have an instant repair tip?

Tks P
