Don't bother.... all minis are rubbish..... get a Holden or some other Aussy car wioth some guts!!!
Alan ..... :-) they are interesting enough to bring you here :-)
Ray, look for one with sound metal work, the mechanical bits are easy to fix, ( ish )
Steve.
Hey Alan I am a holden fan too There is nothing greater than a decent holden but my girlfriend loves minis so I am going to help her build one. Just because your thick headed doesnt mean they arent good cars.
I've been posting here for years with hardly a reply to an interesting and informative comment or opinion regarding Britains greatest little car... As soon as I start drinking Mr Hardys finest red Plonk from that other great country down under and make an admittedley inebriated reply to a perfectly reasonable question I get two responses!! Fantastic.... Think I'll be a troll in future, much more fun.....
Anyway Ray, if you were in the UK I would advise you to buy a late Mini Cooper... The best you could afford... as you are in an Antipodean situation this won't be an option, and frankly from my experiences in travelling in Oz there are'nt a great deal of cars for sale and most that are for sale are overpriced rubbish (Hence my inebriated comment). Best thing is to employ an expert to either accompany you when you go looking for a car or better still trust them to find a good car for you, after all they won't be blinkered by your understandable enthusiasm to get a car to get started restoring. It will cost you more money to start with, but could save you a fortune in the long run.
Now then where's that wine glass gone? Ooh, by the way it's not that I'm thick headed, but I did have a thick head the following morning :-)
Alan
