Mini Review: Skoda Felicia

The new 'Tesco Value Racing Car'.

X reg.

Plastic-like interior plastics.

Central locking - Your reviewer thought this was a nice touch on a car of this age and price range.

Manual gearbox - with 5 forward and 1 reverse ratios although only 1st,

2nd, 3rd and reverse were tested.

Cigarette lighter - removed and lying in boot for near 50/50 weight distribution.

'racing' clonk on take up of power.

Engine - Funny old Skoda unit mounted low for better CofG.

Performance - Nippy enough for the run to the takeaway and back, at least 800yards in total.

Don't think it's going round Knockhill anytime soon, but it might get seen at an autotest or car trial this year.

The question is, do you think HR will let me get away with the engine size? and I didn't like the colour of the boot carpet.

How soft was the dash to the touch?

Any damped vodka / potato holders?

Forgot to ask.

Did the 4 munchie boxes (donner kebab, chicken pakora, veg pakora, chips, and a side of coleslaw for the health conscious - all in one glorious but suspiciously pizza shaped box) greatly affect the handling on the return leg of the trip ?

Audi V8?

More sensibly anything upto and including the Mk5 (6n2 2000 on) Polo would be a good starting point, they had a lower bonnet line than the golf so the blocks are a little shorter, that gives you the choice of 1.4 16v with 75 or

100bhp, 1.6 16v GTi (the polo is 5 speed the Lupo 6) with 125bhp 1.3 8v with 113bhp.

Sounds like it to me.

This might make an interesting read:

It's the relatively unloved 2.0, but atill impressive.

I've heard of these munchie boxes, was it the 10, 12 or 14"?

They are almost as famous as the Glasgow Stonner.

I think these were 10". Washed down with a can of wholesome Irn Bru. Nom nom nom.

I think the cholesterol content of the boxes in the passenger seat was equal to or greater than that of the occupant of the driver seat which of course made for perfectly balanced handing.

I imagine there was a great calorific content in the passenger seat than in the fuel tank too.

Not bad little motors really are they. Imagine what a works rally version, stripped out and putting out 140bhp from a 1.3 would be like.
