popping exhaust cause

dont believe the backyard mechanic for any advice. he is an example of a wanna bee, his advice can kill

unburnt fuel in the exhaust on decel is what makes the popping sound. An exhaust leak is usually more pronounced and more of a back fire.

On a motronic car that is running right if you let off of the gas and coast from 6000 rpm it'll never pop. The reason for that is because the computer kills all fuel to the engine if the throttle is released over 1800 rpm. If you back way off of the throttle but keep your foot barely in the gas and you have a free flowing exhaust you can get a

3.2L car to pop. Since computerized FI is getting to be the norm newer cars do it less than old cars with cars or less advanced FI.

hope this helps foctard h u r c
