p.s. The difference in economic output that you quote is largely due to two factors. First, Canada has less than 10% of the population of the United States. Also, the Canadian economy is much more resource based than the economy of the USA. A more representative statistic would be GDP per capita. In Canada it's $31,500, while in the US it's $40,100. While it shows that the US economy is stronger than the Canadian economy, it's not nearly as lopsided.
