I completed redoing my headliner today. Only thing I got to do is recover the roof quarter trim panels. Didn't get enough headliner material, another 6 inches would of made it.

Everything came apart easy. The hard part was preping the backer board before gluing on the new headliner. Went together easy, As of tonight there were no squeaks or rattles from any of the part that were R & R'ed.

Used two cans of the 3M Trim Adhesive, plus a 1/4 of a thrid can that was about two years old.

I didn't add any of the wood trim as mentioned in a previous post. Too much extra work.......

I've got a '92 Bonneville with the same problem. I just bought the material to do this job yesterday. Are there any 'gotchas' you can pass along? I've never done this before, and I'm a little nervous. How much time do you have to reposition the material before the glue sets? I'm worried about permanent wrinkles, or having to buy more material and starting over.

Only gone in the sense that there doesn't seem to be any feasible way of rebuilding what I have - I'm chasing an '85 2M4 up in Napier (where I got my '84 from) that is in ratty condition... if I can get one from locally that saves LOADS of trouble. :-)

And I really don't care if it's Duke is dead, my rear subframe survived the accident without a twist, bend or any other sign of damage - should be a bolt in fix (except the cursed wiring loom again hehe!)

Some things to think about. Smoke from cigarettes cause the glue in headliners to fail. Also I've noticed it seems that if a person tends to leave their windows cracked all the time the constant humidity changes cause headliners to fall sooner. Btw the headliner in my 56 bel-air is still intact. Why? Because they knew how to sew back then...
