...which, in turn, are related to Ferrets, who most decidedly like chewing on rubber. If Martens are as smart as, and as playful as ferrets, no precautions you could take against them could hope to succeed.

If you visit the Mineral King area of Sequoia National Park in California, you encounter all sorts of signs warning about marmots doing this. It really looks strange to see cars parked with a portable fence around them.

Apparently, if you drive off with one in the engine compartment, broiled marmot can become quite stinky and messy, also!
