Purchased a 95 Saab 900 for my daughter. Had it checked out by a mechanic. 2 months later, car will not go into reverse. Other gears work fine. Mechanics have not looked at the car but give $2-3000 extimates. I know they want to make money but I have heard many horror stories about transmission repairs. Are there any quick fixes to look for? Will it give a code number? How about transmission computer? External adjustments? Anything worth trying before ripping it apart? And something that has bothered me.....did previous owner do something to hide the problem?
