Took me a few days to sort through the torrent of helpful replies I got from my first message (ironic mode off) but I have more information.
Following suggestions made to earlier posters, I now let my system run (fuel pump, electrics/electronics) for a few seconds before cranking. This way, the car starts right up! But, after the first second or so it wants to stall again, and will be difficult to start. If I nurse it alond for fifteen to thirty sec. then all is well, it stabilizes and idles normally.
Really sounds like a fuel delivery problem, but once again with so many electronic systems it's hard to know whether we're talking hardware or software.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated.
