egr solenoid

When applying +12v to this solenoid, with wiring harness disconnected, should it just make a barely audible click noise that indicates it's working? Still trying to get to the bottom of a code 26. Hoping it isn't the purge canister solenoid which is harder to fix.

What was the resistance reading with the ones Saturn had, and also, what was the reading value of the one you accepted? Just curious as to what to expect should I need one.

Actually, the code 26 may, > put my money on purge canister solenoid, mine was giving error codes ,

I took my solenoid to service department and we checked the 4 or 5 that they had all were about 22 ohms, mine was about 22 ohms and i belive it was still working but the computer in the car was rejecting it, one that i took may have been 22.5 ohms i took that one, the 91-93 repair manual i have says they should be 22 to 42 ohm !

I am not sure if this device is 12v or 5v.

I seem to recall my purge solenoid was acting up, too, some months ago. If that is located on backside of the engine (between engine and firewall) on the twin-cam. Seems the vacuum hose dried and split back there and that was the problem. It was a bear to get to and needed a hoist to get it from underneath (dealer did it as I gave up trying to do it from topside).
