**You know, I actually knew about the "shakers" from here and on a VW forum. I just plum forgot when I typed that last post. Recently, I had to drop by the dealership for some work, I picked up the promotional material for the 2011 Impreza and the 2011 Forester and avoided the Legacy. It's sad because I was pondering the Outback version.
Subaru loaned me a new premium version of the Forester while working on my car and it was very nice! Sorry to pick your brain like this, but any thoughts on the Forester? Problems, likes?

If you have read the magazine that Subaru sends out to everyone who has bought a Subaru recently, you would have read that the new engines require synthetic oil. In fact when first announced they said you had to use Subaru-Branded synthetic oil, then in the next issue they clarified that it does not have to be Subaru branded.
I don't consider myself that old- Forester is just out of the question.
It is a good car, though it has some problems. The Impreza derived cage is rather weak, structurally, for an SUV, and this leads to all sorts of interior rattles, that can not be fixed. Putting a strut tower brace, in front, might help stiffen the chassis and prevent some of the rattles from developing.
Other than that, I think it a fine SUV. Go for it if you like SUV's.
