Any good way to fix a rim leak???

Hi all,

Is there any cheap & proven fix for a tire rim leak? My left front BF Goodrich 215/75R15 on my '95 Jeep GC Limited has a slow rim leak right near the valve stem.

I've already used 2 cans of "AirUp Gold" sealant on the tire, but it doesnt seem to be sealing it permanently. I dont want to use too many cans on the tire since it will mess up the balance.

Are there any proven products that can seal a rim leak?

Thanks.....

Make sure it isn't the wheel itself leaking due to some gorilla cracking or dinging it a good one. If the valve stem, just replace it. Have the tire removed and remounted and put a new stem on.

It also gets your photo placed on the wall of the local tire repair places with target rings added. At least do them a favor and let them know you've wasted two cans of sealant rather than simply having the tire remounted.

Yes. A new rim or new tire. Or just the old one in the hands of a *qualified* tire tech.

The above posts are correct. Break it down, clean it up and start over with a new valve stem and you should be fine. In an emergency and for absolute frugality you could let the air out of the tire, kneel on it to get more air our and put the valve cap back on. Then pour rubber cement where it leaks and let the negative pressure suck the cement in while you take a 15" break. Come back and blow the tire up. With that crap you put in the tire you are way out of balance. That stuff never seems to go where you need it.

not to mention the fact that stuff is EXPLOSIVE! do your tech a favor, don't use that stuff! the only way to properly seal a leak at the bead is to dismount the tire, brush up the rim, apply bead sealer and remount and balance the tire. (i do this to mine and many others)

Nope.

The tire needs to come off and the rim needs to be properly cleaned.
