hello , i have a 1998 dodge stratus and am hearing some kind of hissing noise inside the car, near the heater and a/c controls. now my a/c doesn't work and until this noise started it was ok ,but i had to recharge it last summer. any ides what i should look for and how hard to tear the center console and heater controls apart? thanks Randy

Older Chrysler products used engine vacuum to move "doors" in hac controls. They often hissed momentarily even when working well. Don't know if your car still uses vacuum servos, but the combination of a hiss and non-working AC sure sounds like a vacuum servo or vacuum line problem.
