Research on Automatic Transmission Faulures

Hi. I'm currently taking a class in Quality Control at my local college. Our term paper assignment is to track failure rates on any type of product we want. Because of an interest in cars, I decided to choose two wheel drive car automatic transmissions.

I'm hoping there's some transmission specialists out there who can offer their experiences on what type transmissions they most often find in there shops for repair. It would also be helpful if I knew what system of the transmission failed and if the transmission required replacing. This can be from any year and make of car.

I've been searching the web for information on automatic transmission failure rates, but there doesn't seem to be anything compiled in depth. If you know of a web site that may have this information, can you please give me the address?

If you prefer to answer privately, feel free to send email to snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com. Discretion is assured.

I will be very grateful for any information you can offer.

Regards, GB
