Glasing (UK) is known as glazing in the US. Glazing is the fitting and installation of window glass (or some other paneled materials). Structural Glazing is the selection, fitting and installation of glass with bonding materials much stronger than ordinary window sealants. It is a science in itself, developed for skyscrapers and glass-walled office buildings. For more information, see the Silicone Structural Glazing Manual (PDF Format) by Dow-Corning:

The research objective of the 'team' is not explicitly stated, but the information sought seems political rather than technical. A starting point for the team's research would be (more literate) inquiries to manufacturers of structural glazing materials.

Good luck.

Are you looking at car windshields or just structural glazing? Trying to figure out why this was posted on an automotive newsgroup reminded me that actually are some energy-efficiency as well as comfort implications to automotive glazing, especially with regard to the air- conditioning power that is needed, though there are a lot of other parameters that must be taken into account.)
