Re: 1993 Corolla 1770cc LE; ~480,000 km
Sometimes when starting the car, as soon as the ignition is turned on, everything will go dead. Most often this happens right away, before the starter relay activates.
Removing and replacing the negative battery terminal restores everything and the car will then start normally. (The terminals are clean and the battery is charged).
I discovered that opening and then closing the passenger door also 're- sets' whatever is cutting out the ignition and all power. Am I 'unsticking' a relay somewhere? Can you suggest what might be causing this? Are there further checks I could make?
I would be grateful for any positive suggestions.
