Looks like bad gas mileage solved

Recently I posted about my bad gas mileage. Tried a variety of things and changed a variety of things ($$$$$) until recently I had the gas tank repaired. Tonight, I did 350 kms at an average of 120 k/h and got 6,8 Liters per 100 kms. I found a conversion web site and it gives me around 41 Mi/UK gallon. My Camry is a 1993 4 cyl. Not bad, huh!?!?!?!?!? I use synthetic oil. There was no visible leak on the ground. The mechanics said that the dirt on the tank acted as a sponge, explaining why there was no drops on the ground.

Did you ask him to wring out the dirt from the tank to reclaim all your fuel?

Did someone "wring" your bell?

after saturation it needs to go somewhere... so the mechanic is yanking your chain...

Well, why can't the gas evaporate while the dirt is being soaked with it, even before it drips on the ground? Its even more posible while the car in move??

I looked while the car was on the hoist. No leaks visible.

On the move, sure, but evaporate while in garage, no way. You would never notice it on the MPG scale if that was the case...
